The Routes of Evil
A downloadable game for Windows
This is a tower-defense style game developed by Matt Martone, Nicole Maala and Stijn Collart for the 2023 Global Game Jam (Theme: ROOTS).
In the year something or other, an agricultural breakthrough in the city of Albatis revolutionized root vegetable farming. The family behind the discovery shared it freely throughout the surrounding farmlands, leading to a tremendous surplus of tubers and attracting the attention of the Merchants Guild. Vegetables flowed in then out through the city gates as Albatis' export industry expanded, bestowing great riches upon the traders. The farmers, however, found themselves relegated to a class below the merchants, condemned to receive ever-smaller portions of the profits. Enraged by this injustice, a farmer rallied his fellow workers to demand their fair share be returned to them. Their uprising was quelled and the leader was forced out onto the plains to live his remaining days in exile. Years later, a mysterious figure known only as The Bandit King has returned to the outskirts of Albatis, determined to claim its vegetables for himself.
The player will require a mouse and keyboard to play. Mouse to move, space to progress tutorial, ESC to quit.
